My friend Vicki - with the rock hard body- had a competition the other day.

It was my first Body Building Competition - (I'm sure your surprised)- that I had ever been to.
So Claire and I made the trek to see her in person.

I was AMAZED at the things they could make their bodies do!

She is so hard-core, so disciplined! Her only weakness used to be Diet Coke.
I loved that I could count on her to always have one in hand. She just gave it up - DANGIT!

So this last week I joined her weight-loss/weight lifting class. I'm hoping she can get me ship-shaped!
Last week I could hardly walk or sit to PEE, but this week it was lots easier.
Next week - I've been warned - will be hard! Pray for me!

Every drawer and cupboard has been rearranged, and now I get to deal with this all day.

I had forgotten all these fun goings on that happen with having a one year old around!

Grandma O is so thoughtful to have snagged me this totally stylin furry hat from a deceased woman's house last week! I told her to find me some treasures and she sure did! I think I will feel like Zsa Zsa Gabor strutting my stuff in this beaut!

I'm even more excited to wear this totally retro blue sweater with sweet shoulder pads!

I am so LUCKY! Maybe--- if I embelish it with some rhinestones.....no that would make it too fancy.
I know your green with envy right now, but because I'm so nice I'll let you borrow it if you ask nicely!

I was so worried yesterday when Riley went to make cookies and we thought we were out of vanilla. We barely had enough....ffffeeewwww....that was a close call!

Yep-that's how we roll around here! Always up to something!Our fun filled - super-duper exciting weekend!
Did I mention that I got to eat some Cafe Rio? I know-- I know that is just too much fun packed into one weekend. Next weekend We'll slow down I promise!

fall-i-fy

One things that makes me happy about getting to experience fall again

is I get in the mood to redecorate the house and fall-i-fy it.

Another thing that makes me happy is Taipan for giving out coupons

forcing me once again to and spend money at their store buying all sorts of fall

 goodies!

They had these HUGE leaves that I fell in love with and along with some cute polka dot

ribbon - viola an easy peasy garland thingy-ma-jigger on the mantel!

I went a little crazy with the ribbon because it was so cute!

I added it to my wreath and around the door way for some added ambience. 

I'm sure the wind the blow it down soon. I'm in need for some big pumpkins now

but it's a bit premature to purchase those yet.

Aunt LuAnn strikes again as being the coolest person ever and helping me can

29 jars of her fabulous salsa! The best part is just getting to go and hang with her 

for a couple hours.

Another thing great about fall is getting out to see the pretty wild sunflowers that

grow random all over town. I LOVE IT!!

Andrea and I took the boys out for some good old fashioned frog hunting. We let the dogs

run free and they were going crazy!

Maybe it's good it's blurry and so you won't be able to tell that lil J is picking his nose :)

It's almost time for our annual drive up the canyon to see the fall leaves! I can't wait!

What I can wait for is winter :( - my least favorite thing about fall is the freezing cold snow that is just around the corner!

REALLY??

I've been cleaning for two hours and still have this big hurken pile of crap on the counter!

I need a professional organizer to come in and get me organized. I'm thinking of just stopping all mail

to our house. Maybe a PO box would help. Then I can throw away the junk mail when I pick it up at the post office.

Why do I even try to help the kids get their school lunch made in the mornings if they can't

even remember to put it in their back pack!!

Now I'm going to have to get some exercise and hike it over to the school.

Sorry these are just a small few of the gripes I am having this morning!!

our last days of summer

I know, I know again I find myself a month or two behind on my blog posts. So here goes

a quick catch up and then hopefully I can start keeping up again.

Our last days of summer included:

trying to keep up with our garden. It runnith over!

So I've been doing lots of baking zucchini bread and cookies.

I had Hayden take these pictures of Reece and I. I thought it was funny looking back and seeing how in each picture Reece and I have the exact same expression.

I'm pretty sure we are twins.

OLSEN FAMILY FUN TIME!

We attended our first Olsen family reunion in Logan, UT.

They have an auction every year to raise money for the next years auction.

We pretty much left with lots of junk and one cute item, but Mel and Dan paid the big bucks for

this awesome antique from their great grandpa's farm. It's a dairy cow ear tag.

I thought it was pretty awesome and there was a big bidding war on it.

Someone happened to find it in the old barn and they had it specially framed for the auction.

But my favorite thing was some relative in this t-shirt! Only at an Olsen reunion would this fly:

We've also been doing a little more boating, school shopping, and still working on our basement. 

I've been painting, painting, painting and my right arm has about had it. I'm getting close to being finished maybe another week or two.

THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!!

Riley now in 8th grade. WOW how time is flying by and my little kiddos are not so little anymore.

I can't believe what a beautiful girl Riley is growing up to be...inside and out!

Hayden is now in 5th grade and has an awesome teacher this year!!! FINALLY!

He is much happier this year and is trying hard to get really good grades so he can play tackle football next year. We opted out of all the fall sports this year, because spring and summer has just been too busy. We need to slow down a bit.

Reece is now in 1st grade! (WOOOOT - ALL DAY)

He isn't too sure about that all day factor. He thinks it's too long! I'm hoping he starts to like school better soon. He seems pretty miserable so far :(. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!

In other news: BYU FOOTBALL has started and you know what that means:

Every Saturday morning we wake up to Kyle yelling: "IT'S GAME DAY"!!

Absolutely NO RED can be worn on game day and he really likes it when we wear blue or better yet a BYU shirt. The best part is he makes us his special 'Y' pancakes for breakfast.

So that's my catch up posting and hopefully I will do better now!

Who ever invented baby einstein deserves the billion dollars they are making off of it! It is SAVING my life lately!
I wish they would create one for 6 to 10 year old boys now! You know something that puts them into a trans, so when they are driving me crazy over the summer I can just turn it on and they will succumb to the soft music and shapes flashing on the screen, and then if it could also hypnotize them to go and clean their stinky room after it's over that would be great too!

 

Tomorrow is the last day of school. They go to school for 1 1/2 hrs in the morning. WHY?? A little ridiculous if you ask me. They already cleaned out their desks and have brought everything home and for the last week all they have done is PARTY PARTY PARTY oh and more PARTYING!  Back when I was a kid, we only had ONE day of partying and that's it. Then we had to walk 10 miles home up hill in snow!  :)

Post edit: Oh and Hayden's eyes don't look like BROKEN glass. She told him they looked like SHATTERED glass. OOPS! my bad.

I'm doing it! I'm going to pack up my winter clothes today even though it snowed a couple days ago. I'm so sick of them and I need the space in my closet! So please Mr. Sunshine --will you stick around a while?

Dance Festival 2010

It's that time again! 

Time for all the school kids to show off their dancing skillz!

Some of them (hmmm aahhhmmm - Hayden),

got to dance with a girl for the very first time, and be embarrassed because their mom is yeeeeh-hawww'n really loud!

Reece on the other hand got to do a little hula-hip action!

I ♥ SPRING!!

FOR REALS--- this spring has made me SO SO happy! I'm loving the sunshine and you can bet when it is shining I'm out enjoying it somehow. We've been so busy with baseball games, soccer games, yard work and so on I haven't had time to blog. I will play catch up soon as soon as the weather goes bad again :)

My dad just sent me these cutest pics of a new colt that was just born on the farm. Makes me want to jump in the car and drive all the way to WA to see it in person. I so miss seeing all of the baby farm animals in the spring.

What a depressing morning!  All day I've been waiting to see what my friend Casey aka former 'justice of the peace' is going to post on her blog. I knew it would be something good. She posted her thoughts on yesterdays passing of Obamacare...oh I mean, not 'yo mama's healthcare', um I mean ,  Universal Healthcare and a quote from Harold B. Lee. I always like what Casey has to say....miss U girl!

I was doing a little catch up reading of Nie Nie's blog today and she had  link to this video. It totally reminded me of and my two sisters and how we used to sing and dance around in our barn on the farm. ahhhh memories.

an instructional video - How to be the best roller-skater you can be.

The MUST HAVES to be a successful roller-skater:

1. First of all you must have determination - even if your in your mid-thirties or more you must be dedicated to going roller skating atleast every Saturday for 3 hours to get all your practice time in.

2. If you don't have a red sweat head band you might as well just pack up your skates and go home. A red sweat head-band is a must have. You don't want to be one of those sweaty head people at the skating rink.

3. An awesome super-hero t-shirt. Preferably SUPERMAN! You want to make sure everyone knows how SUPER you are as you show off your slick foot work.

4. ELBOW-PADS - even though you know your an awesome roller-skater and won't need them - SAFETY FIRST!

5. When at the 'RINK' make sure to always have a couple extra special moves in your back pocket for when your favorite song  'Staying Alive' is played.

Watch closely in this instructional video to see how it's done (sorry not the best camera work) - you might have to watch it a couple of times to see if you can spot 'SUPERMAN'.

I've been working hard today on some new jewelry items.....pictures to come soon.

So when this creativity happens......something else happens.....here's how the conversation went down.

Jean calling Kyle:  "so are you on your way home"

Kyle:  "yah"

Jean: " so is it OK if we just get some WENDY's tonight? Hayden's been begging for it ever since he got home from school today"

Kyle:  "SURE"   (kyle is really talkative)

Jean:  " SO......just so you know....a warning.....I've been in creative mode today and I had to let something go and I chose ME.....just so you know...I look like DOO DOO."

Kyle:  "NOOOOOOOOOO" don't let yourself go.

Jean: "chuckle....sorry....something had to give.....oh and the house...well it gave a little too"

'the crud'

 

We've had 'the CRUD' at our house this weekend.Baby Crew has been sick since last Wednesday up almost every night...all night. Riley and I woke up Saturday morning with sore throats and then the fevers/chills set in.

Kyle has been taking care of all of us...along with Grandma Beus. Grandpa Beus high-tailed it out of here on Sunday morning, but Grandma is stuck here because she flew here.

We've been at the doctor all day today. Riley and I have strep throat and baby has his first ear infection.
Thank goodness for antibiotics we should be on the mend now.

So while we were at Crew's appointment today it was Kyle, Riley, me, and Crew. Kyle was taking Crew and following the nurse to get his weight. Riley and I overheard the nurse ask Kyle if he was the 'grandpa' or the 'dad'.  hee hee Riley and I laughed so hard our throats hurt so bad it was almost turning into a cry. So I've been calling him 'gramps' all day now.  She must have thought that we were bringing in our teenage daughter and baby. So then I started thinking if she thinks Kyle is the grandpa then that means she thinks I'm the grandma. Not so funny now.  

Before all of the crap hit the fan we did have a fun BIRTHDAY for my mom.We had lunch with her sisters some cousins and we got to see Grandpa Gilbert too. This was probably his last trip to Utah. He's went down hill a lot and just to think it was about a year ago we had him dancing at a wedding and playing wii bowling with us.

Then we topped off the night with some BOWLING/ICECREAM, came home and snuggled in with a fun movie to watch, which was the 'Time Travelers Wife." I was wondering why I wasn't warned about this movie and about how WEIRD it was. I actually felt bad making Kyle sit through it.

One last random note:

One day coming home from picking up the school kids, I over heard this conversation with Reece and his friend that was having a Birthday on Saturday.

  

Reece asked him what he wanted for his Birthday. 

His friend answered that he wanted 2 pet snakes to go with his two pet frogs he already has. 

So then Reece said 'OK don't tell anyone else', 

you know so we can get him his 2 pet snakes. 

So we wrapped up some Legos and put this snake card on it and told him to be REALLY careful when he opens it.

I wish I would have had time to get him one of those SNAKES in a can gag gifts. That would have been awesome!
